With the method of Network Address Translation (NAT) which has been widely implemented in the Internet Service Provider (ISP), the Small Office Home Office (SOHO) and medium companies to the above, the use of registered IP addresses on the internet can be streamlined. NAT works by modifying the IP header to a private network that has an IP address is not listed in the Internet network can communicate with the Internet network. This becomes a barrier for the use of security mechanisms at the IP layer, in this case is the Internet Protocol security (IPsec), which aims to maintain the IPsec data integrity and data confidentiality at the IP layer. Incompatibility between IPsec and NAT working mechanism has become an obstacle in the development of the implementation of IPsec as a standard security mechanism at the IP layer, go to these problems, the authors are interested to analyze the effect of interconnection on the network that implements IPsec NAT. IPsec can be implemented on a network-based NAT, with the note, implemented not only implement protocols AH and ESP protocols. Because the mechanism of action involving the AH IP origin and the destination IP, NAT or reverse NAT works by changing the address in the IP header fields that will make checks on the integrity of the data by AH failed because the data is considered invalid. Keywords: NAT, IPsec, IP Layer Security ABSTRAK Penggunaan jaringan internet yang semakin meningkat mengakibatkan semakin berkurangnya alamat IP yang terdaftar di internet.Dengan metode Network Address Translation (NAT) yang telah banyak diimplementasikan pada Internet Service Provider (ISP), Small Office Home Office (SOHO) dan perusahaan-perusahan menengah ke atas, penggunaan dari alamat IP yang terdaftar di internet dapat diefisienkan. NAT berkerja dengan cara memodifikasi header IP agar jaringan pribadi yang memiliki alamat IP tidak terdaftar di jaringan internet dapat berkomunikasi dengan jaringan internet. Hal ini menjadi penghambat bagi penggunaan mekanisme keamanan pada layer IP, dalam hal ini adalah Internet security Protocol (IPsec), dimana IPsec bertujuan untuk menjaga keutuhan data dan kerahasiaan data pada layer IP. Inkompatibilitas antara mekanisme kerja IPsec dan NAT telah menjadi suatu halangan dalam pengembangan implementasi IPsec sebagai standar mekanisme keamanan di layer IP, berangkat dari permasalahan tersebut, penulis tertarik untuk menganalisa pengaruh interkoneksi IPsec pada jaringan yang mengimple- mentasikan NAT. IPsec dapat diimplementasikan pada jaringan berbasis NAT, dengan catatan, tidak diimplementasikannya protokol AH dan hanya mengimplementasikan protocol ESP.
