E mail: lrojas3@eafit.edu.co Abstract With digital technologies there are many possibilities for leisure allowing changes in leisure experiences and practice(J. Bryce, 2001). In this regard, this article explores digital leisure in individual’s experiences, habits and uses, to find a definition of digital leisure. Research is framed in the interpretive/ constructivist paradigm and the hermeneutic tradition. Applying narrative and thematic analysis to 30 individuals’ interviews about how they perform activities for leisure with digital technologies. Findings allows to conceptualize the nature of leisure having in mind that digital technologies make possible that limits between spaces get blur, creating heterotopic spaces (Foucault & Miskowiec, 1986). Individuals assign the meaning according to social conventions and meanings previously stablished or used in leisure activities performed. Features of digital leisure activities are associated with technologies characteristics and remain related to freedom to choose activities. Digital leisure is all leisure performed with digital activities and it and limits are blurred, because digital leisure activities are possible to perform in work or leisure spaces, but also because it has a relation. The study provides a basis to define digital leisure and also explores leisure possibilities and transformations in leisure where performed with digital technologies. Keywords: digital leisure, leisure meanings, ICT and Internet.
