The synthesized compounds were screened against M. tuberculosis where compound 17 exhibited good in vitro antitubercular activity that may serve as a lead for further optimization. Key words: Tuberculosis, Imidazoles, Glycosyl amino ester, C-allylation. ψ Current Address: Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221005, India, E-mail:vtiwari@ucdavis.edu * Corresponding Author: rpt.cdri@yahoo.co.in ; Fax: +91 522 2623405 # CDRI communication number: 7398
