Habana, Cuba Received 12 October 1994 Accepted 26 October 1994 Determination of boric acid in high nickel content solutions during nickel cathode production was made by measuring the trans- mission loss of thermal neutrons. According to industrial requirements, adequate accu- racy and reproducibility were obtained. INTRODUCTION In Cuban metallurgical industry, the production of nickel cathodes is carried out by electrolysis. The electrolyte solution used for the industrial process is made of a mixture of nickel sulfate, sodium sulfate and boric acid. During the industrial process the boric acid concentration has to be kept in an optimal range, therefore, the development of an expeditious procedure to control the boric acid concentration acquires great importance.
