Tratando-se de uma investigação científica que contou com a participação voluntária de imigrantes, este estudo consubstanciou uma investigação-participativa assente em saberes de experiência migratória. O formato colaborativo da pesquisa procurou uma coerência teórico-prática entre os pressupostos de uma ecologia de saberes aplicada ao estudo da imigração em Portugal, e o método das oficinas biográficas também apelidadas de rodas de histórias. Apresenta-se aqui o enquadramento teórico e epistemológico deste trabalho, discorrendo, em seguida, sobre os contributos substantivos do método das oficinas biográficas, ou o exercício de transformação do conhecimento experiencial em conhecimento científico que as mesmas permitem. Investigating through action: a biographical collaborative research conducted with immigrants in Portugal Abstract This paper deals with a collaborative piece of research with immigrants in Coimbra. It is a scientific study in which volunteers participated through a participatory research methodology on the migration experience. The collaborative nature of the research aimed at getting a theoretical and practical coherence between the assumptions of a knowledge ecology applied to the study of immigrants in Portugal aŶd the ŵethod of ďiogƌaphiĐal ǁoƌkshops, also kŶoǁŶ as ƌodas de históƌias. IŶ this paper, the theoretical and epistemological framework is presented as well as the major contributions of the method of biographical workshops and the exercise of transformation of experiential knowledge into scientific knowledge.
