Cognitive processes play an important role in the impact of negative life events on aperson. Intrusive and deliberate ruminations turn out to be important sep arate elements thatenable predicting the negative or positive psychological conse quences of facing major life events. Efforts were undertaken to produce a Polish adap tation of the Event Related Rumination Inventory (ERRI), developed by A. Cann and colleagues (2011). ERRI scores are treated as responses to a specific negative life event. The obtained data (N = 494) indicate that the Polish version of ERRI has good psychometric properties (Cronbach’s α is .96 for intrusive rumination and .92 for deli berate rumination). Both forms of rumination are related to posttraumatic stress (mainly intrusive ruminations) and posttraumatic growth (deliberate ruminations). Key words: negative life events, Event Related Rumination Inventory. * Adres do korespondencji: NINA OGIŃSKABULIK – Instytut Psychologii, Uniwersy tet Łódzki, ul.
