Nas suas páginas, a revista traz diálogos e situações entre diferentes grupos de seres vivos. Desta forma, sua temática envolve muitos temas relacionados às ciências naturais, entre eles a teoria da evolução biológica. Neste trabalho, algumas das tiras da revista foram analisadas quanto ao tratamento dado por elas à teoria evolutiva e lidas em sala de aula por alunos de um curso de ciências biológicas cursando a disciplina de EǀoluçĆo. O ƌegistƌo da leituƌa dos aluŶos foi oďtido a partir de relatório escrito da atividade, além de caderno de campo seguindo os pressupostos do método etnográfico. A análise dos dados se deu a partir do referencial teórico da análise de discurso. O objetivo foi investigar as relações entre o discurso da teoria evolutiva, o meta-discurso produzido pela revista a respeito da teoria e a leitura feita pelos alunos do meta- discurso da revista (o meta-discurso do meta-discurso). A análise indicou uma adesão das tiras ao discurso da teoria evolutiva, contudo, acrescentando elementos críticos, filosóficos, políticos e metalinguisticos ao seu meta-discurso. Por outro lado, o meta-discurso dos alunos revelou uma leitura restrita aos elementos ilustrativos das tiras não atingindo as outras camadas de sentido produzidas pelas tiras. Isto se deveu, provavelmente, a situação de enunciação, ou seja, a leitura dos alunos se deu no contexto de uma atividade desenvolvida em sala de aula. ABSTRACT Níquel Náusea is a Brazilian underground comic book authored by Fernando Gonsales, both illustrations and text. Its characters and situations involve the life of different living beings, mainly animals such as a rat (Níquel Náusea), his girlfriend (a rat called, Gatinha-Little Cat in English) and best-friend a cockroach (Fliti). Other animals play only minor roles in the comics. Due to that, Níquel Náusea relates to natural sciences in many aspects. One of these aspects is the treatment that the magazine confers to the evolutionary theory. In this assay some of the comic strips of this magazine were read by under degree students of a state university in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in the context of activities undergone for a Đouƌse oŶ eǀolutioŶ. Registeƌs of studeŶt’s ƌeadiŶg were taken by means of written reports and also by ethnographies. The theoretical framework used was that of discourse analysis. The aim of this research was to investigate the relation among the meta-discourses produced by both readings: comic strips on the evolutionary theory and students on the comic strips on the evolutionary theory. Results demonstrate that comic strips perform a reading which includes critical, philosophical, political and metalinguistic elements. On the other hand, the students reading were attached mainly to the illustrative aspects of the strips. This is pƌoďaďlLJ due to the faĐt that studeŶt’s ƌeadiŶgs ǁeƌe done in the context of the academic environment, what means in an activity in a formal class.
