The Courseware has four basic and ten optional modules which can form different courses/subjects according special custom requirements. This allows that particular needs and learning objectives can be met at European level according the harmonised scheme of European Organisation for Quality (EOQ) for Quality Professionals. The example of Quality Professional course with optional module “Quality Management in Healthcare” and application of Role-Play Simulation is present in detail. Presented courseware and simulation can be embedded into different web learning environment as they are web applications. 1. Introduction Area of Quality of production which means process and results of meaningful activity of organisation is taught at gradual and post gradual studies in subjects like Quality Control, Quality Engineering, Quality Management, Quality Management Systems, Software Quality Engineering, Tools and Methods for Quality Management, Quality Professional, and similar courses at different faculties of Slovak universities. This takes place at the Technical University of Košice since 1970. Nowadays the content of university courses and lifelong education is formed according: • International standards family ISO 9000:2000, • EFQM excellence model, • Six Sigma model from Motorola, • Books of well known authors as Deming, Juran, Crosby, Feigenbaum, Ishikawa, Kondo, and others. Students and teachers report this courses demanding in different directions. One of the most important cause which can be seen is inadequate knowledge of students about internal environment of organisation and practical possibilities to manage production quality in firms. Mentioned reason leads us to use modelling and simulation of quality management systems in education from 1990 to provide better insight into processes in an organisation. Expansion of information and communication technologies at the end of last century brought ideas to develop and use a role-play simulation software in web environment. We received a grant for project KEGA 3/106203 titled “Web Generator of Role-Play Simulations” [1] from Slovak Ministry of Education in 2001 and European project Leonardo da Vinci SK 03/B/F/PP – 177014 titled “Improvement of the Quality, Effectiveness and Efficiency of Healthcare Services through Vocational Education and Training (IMPROHEALTH)“ in 2003 [9]. These grants supported further development of Quality Management Role-Play Simulation software (QM-RPS). In frame of European project TEMPUS IB_JEP 14092_1999 titled “European Standards for Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and Intellectual Properties (STAMP)“ [2] the modular course “Quality Professional” was developed and accredited by Slovak Ministry of Education. The course corresponds to harmonised scheme of European Organisation for Quality (EOQ) for quality professionals. Either course or QM-RPS software has modular structure and it makes possible to create courses/subjects according given teaching objectives. The example of “Quality Professional” course with optional module “Quality Management in Healthcare” and application of QM-RPS in healthcare organisations is introduced in this paper. Considering that bought items (course and simulation) are web based application the integration into web learning environment such as e.g. the uLern platform [3] used at the Technical University of Košice [4] is possible.
