Nasir Bin Masran Ain Hazwani Binti Abu Kasim Fakulti Pendidikan dan Pembangunan Manusia Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjung Malim, Perak Abstract This case study is aimed to determine the effectiveness of play as a teaching method in improving oral reading competency among students with learning dificulty. The respondents of the study are three special education teachers and three students with learning dificulties. Three types of play as intervention strategies were utilized in this study. There are ‘teka teki suku kata’, singing and ‘kotak beracun bacaan bergred’. Data was gathered through interviews, observations and pre and post tests. Analysis of data was done manually. The results indicated that learning through play is effective in improving oral reading competency among students with learning dificulties.
