Payitahttan Metropole: Türk Şiirinde İstanbul Erol Çankaya * Öz: Türklerin İstanbul’u fethi Osmanlı tarihinde olduğu kadar Türk şiiri üzerinde de e t- kili olmuştur. Böylece Osmanlı tarihinde İstanbul’un başkent oluşu ile Divan Şiirinde İstanbul dönemi başlar. Şairler yüzyıllarca, İstanbul’u doğal güzelliklerine şiirler y a- zar. Ne var ki bu şiir, genellikle somut yaşamdan değil, mazmunlardan, kalıplardan çı- kış yapan, İstanbul’un doğal güzelliklerini yansıtmayı aşamamış bir şiirdir. Tanzimat, Fransız etkisinin şiirde de belirdiği bir dönemdir. Bu evrede İstanbul’un geleneksel semtlerindeki kültür çatışmasının, yoksul insanların da şiirde konu edildiği görülmek te- dir. Bütün bu süreçte yüzlerce yıl şiirin fonu İstanbul’dur. Milli Mücadele döneminde başlayan Anadolu’ya yöneliş ile Türk şiiri yüzlerce yıl merkez aldığı İstanbul’dan çı k- maya başlar. Cumhuriyet Dönemi ile bu yöneliş hızlanır. Gelgelelim İstanbul artık baş- kent olmasa da Türk edebiyatının ve şiirinin başkenti olmayı sürdürecektir. İstanbul, bu kentin yerlisi şairlerin yanı sıra, Anadolu’dan yetişen şairlerin de gelip yaşadığı büyü- leyici bir şehir olmayı sürdürecektir. Cumhuriyet döneminde Türkiye’de yaşanan deği- şim ve kentleşme öncelikle İstanbul’a yansırken, bu değişimin izleri İstanbul şiirlerinde- ki bakışı da etkileyecektir. From the Capital to a Metropolis: Istanbul in Turkish Poetry Abstract: Turks’ conquest of Istanbul had a significant effect on Turkish poetry as well as on Ottoman history. Therefore, following the conquest of the city, Istanbul began to be the focal point in Ottoman poetry. For centuries, poets wrote poems under the spell of Istanbul, for its natural beauties and so on. However, this style of poetry, rather than reflecting the real life, could only depict the natural beauties of the city using the same poetic themes and known patterns. With the Tanzimat reform act, a significant French effect can be seen on poetry. Towards the end of 19th century, as the fall of Ottomans began, Turkism and publicist trends took off and this would affect Turkish poetry. Dur- ing the Republican Era, this trend escalated. However, Istanbul, though no longer the capital city, would never cease to be the capital of Turkish literature and poetry. The great change experienced in the country was first felt in Istanbul and the traces of this change would also affect the poets’ viewpoints. Therefore, it is a fascinating journey to follow the reflections of the changes in Turkish society in the changes of “Istanbul po- ems”.
