Sahu Department of Mechanical Engineering BDCOE Sewagram, Wardha Abstract In this paper the authors has critically verified the design of shaft of two furrows reversible plough and also FEM analysis is done. The main objective of this is to optimize the design of shaft as it gets bend or fails after some uses. To analyse the shaft firstly a proper modelling is done by Creo 3.0 software. Then by using ANSYs v11 software FEM analysis is done to determine the different types of stresses and deformation developed. After carried out the analysis it has been found out that whenever there is sudden impact on the plough the shaft gets bend thus for efficient working the shaft is redesigned to withstand the different forces along with static and dynamic load. INTRODUCTION There has been tremendous development in agricultural field. The farmers nowadays are using harvester, tractor, implements, advance machine tools and farm equipments but it has been observed that the implements which they are using mostly manufactured in small SME or in small workshop without the knowledge of scientific methodology of design and process i.e. they do not select the material as per the requirement or do not consider the working condition under which it is required to use. Therefore the implement get frequent failure at the time of uses. Therefore there is a need for Research and Development for manufacturing of such equipments so that the farmers can use such equipments with greater reliability and improve their productivity. For that the farmers used two furrow, three furrow or different types of furrow implements which is locally available but it has been observed that such plough at the time of uses fail due to following different reasons- 1) Not proper designing of plough 2) Not proper uses of plough 3) Wrong selection of plough
