The entire system has been developed using open source platforms and software and aims at eliminating barriers that students are facing due to time and location restrictions as it enables them to directly receive or study the learning material at anyplace, any time, provided that they have an internet connection. This paper discusses the pilot application of this system, as well as its structure and architecture that makes the educational material accessible by students regardless of place or time restrictions. The distribution process, the technologies, problems, and questions, as well as the first reactions of the students after using such alternative educational material are briefly discussed. * Address for correspondence: Hellenic Open University, Attn: Papadakis Spyros, 23 Sachtouri Street, GR26222; Tel: +30 2610 367407; Fax: + 30 2610 367427.
