1. INTRODUCTION
Coaches are role model instructors for athletes both for knowledge and personality traits. Thus, job satisfactions of
coaches, who constitute one of the main cornerstones of sports, are crucial for all aspects of sports.
Being more operative in human life day by day and associated with organizational life, notion of work satisfaction is the
feeling that is developed to the extent expectations are met against work conditions and experiences since in time work itself
becomes not only a tool to reply personal basic needs but also to reply a higher level needs. Choice of a good fit job of an
individual is important both for individuals and organizations in order to fulfill the needs of modern times and be able to compete
with other organizations (Tomrukçu, 2010). There are three prominent ways to explain or describe the notion of job satisfaction
firstly being definitions in terms of emotions/attitudes; secondly definitions in terms of fulfillment of needs/expectations and
thirdly the ones in terms of both emotion and expectation based (Özcan, 2013). We encounter job satisfaction as a significant
factor in improving organizational commitment, success and performance, employee productivity and organizational
persistence. Job satisfaction has several descriptions in the literature. In general, it is defined as the positive or negative
feelings employees have for/against their jobs either through internal or external views. Job satisfaction is the pleasing and
positive emotional state developed through an individual‘s job of work experience (Locke, 1976).
In a more general definition, job satisfaction can be descri bed as individual‘s level of love for the job. In this respect,
employees with higher level of job satisfaction have positive perspective while employees with lower level of satisfaction have
negative perspective. Moreover, job satisfaction may appear as e mployees‘ feelings or general attitudes for their jobs. Job
satisfaction can be defined as an attitude emerged as a result of employees‘ level of satisfaction (Greenberg and Baron, 2000 ).
Having all above mentioned knowledge in mind, we analyze related literature finding; Bullock's definition that job satisfaction is
the entirety consisting of many desired/undesired experiences related to work or an attitude arising from stabilization of these
experiences; Vroom‘s definition of job satisfaction as a measure of multidimensional work attitudes related to employee‘s
perceptions, feelings and behavior. Furthermore, Keith Davis (1998) described job satisfaction as wage earners‘ pleasure or
displeasure they get from their jobs (Şimşek, 1995). In general, job satis faction can be considered as an attitude resulting from
employees‘ positive emotional perspectives for the scope and environment of the job. In this respect, job satisfaction has
relations with many variables in organizational context. We usually encounter these variables in two forms first being individual
second being organizational (environmental) variables (Lu and Barriball, 2005). Job satisfaction can be said to be a subjective
fact at the core as it is related to an individual‘s attitudes. Individuals‘ reach satisfaction through fulfilling the duties which they
perceive to be harder and more complex due to their personal characteristics and perceptions instead of dealing with easier
ones (Sun, 2002). Personal factors are age, seniority, length of service, title, gender, marital status and educational background.
One other factor effecting individuals‘ attitudes towards job is organizational variables. Also considered as
environmental influences on the job, organizational variables reveal which factors play a role in the formation of attitude towards
job. These factors can be analyzed in five dimensions respectively being the job itself, wage, promotion opportunity,
management and colleagues. Job itself within these factors is especially of greater importance in formation of job satisfaction in
terms of work responsibilities and opportunities to learn. Moreover, jobs‘ being attractive, perception of being important by
society, requirement of a certain level of knowledge and giving opportunity for promotion are among the factors determining job
satisfaction (Luthans, 1995). A coach is one of the foremost elements in sports, no matter how talented or hardworking an
athlete is, he/she needs a coach‘s assistance to improve and win. It is a clear act that coach es play the most important role in
technical and tactical training and success of athletes. Nevertheless, athletes‘ success or failure in competitions depends l argely
on performance of the coaches. One of the factors effecting performance of coaches is the level of their job satisfaction
