Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine factors that affect the implementation of Student Centered Learning in the western show a zone High Schools, Oromia regional state. Student-centered learning is an instructional approach characterized by active involvement of students in teaching learning process, problem-focused, democratic and responsive learning is a widely discussed and still poorly understood concept. SCL can be affected by different determinant factors. Data the from randomly selected 664 students through the questionnaire. At the same time, Focus Group Discussion and Interview was used during data collection. The result of this study indicated that the implementation of student-centered learning method in western shewa high school is cheap. A finding also shows that factors such as low attitude towards Student Centered learning, inadequate instructional resources, shortage of time allocated to each teaching period and lack of motivation on teachers because of unfavorable working condition are responsible for small practice of SCL. To enhance the implementation of Student centered approach it was recommended that responsible bodies and organizations should work on awareness creation on SCL, fulfill learning materials, improve teachers working condition and again revisit the time allocated for each period.
