Abstract
This paper reviews policies and practices related to the educational use of
information and communication technology (ICT) and its role in improving education
in Catalonia. Specifically, it analyzes the ICT educational practices developed at four
schools in Catalonia, as well as the educational policies on the integration of these
technologies promoted by the Administration over the last 25 years. These analyses
indicated that the resulting practices, mostly centred on teachers’ explanation or on
teaching software, were in line with policies that have systematically focused on the
provision of equipment and the uncritical use of ICT, regardless of actions for
improving such practices.
