Abstract: Always has the potential to improve the quality of library services and resources by using information technology that requires efficiency and information in all sectors of Libraries. Information Technology can be termed as a backbone to all the libraries. There have been tremendous changes in the libraries and information centres because of wide-scale use of computers, internet and telecommunications systems. Now a day storing, retrieving, transmitting and manipulating of data or information is much easier. We can easily and effectively transmit and communicate the information. It becomes cheaper, quicker and more efficient than earlier. Information can be open any time anywhere. A discovery tool helps us to find out all the information in a single platform. VuFind is an open source library discovery tool that collects the information from different sources, servers and incompatible formats like google search engine. Introduction Information technology has changed the scenario of libraries and library services. There are millions of web pages on the World Wide Web we can access these information with the help of computer. The library resources have changed so the libraries managed and organised their data in different formats. The old catalogues are not sufficient to access of this information. The vast amount of information is increasing more difficulties to traditional path. After the arrival of next-generation catalogue libraries has new changes and discovery tools appears one of the best practices . The library catalogue and journal articles simultaneously search by the library users with the help of these tools. Discovery tools, import metadata in a unified index and shows the search results in a single platform. When user use discovery tool then there is no need to choose specific search tool for start their search. Users interact consistently with the result and save the time which is most important factor for any user.
