VI, nº 1 (2011), pp. 21-40 Mulheres da Floresta: outras tantas histórias Cristina Scheibe Wolff * Resumo: Neste artigo conto em primeira pessoa a trajetória da pesquisa que deu origem ao livro Mulheres da Floresta: uma história (São Paulo: Hucitec, 1999) sobre a história das mulheres na região do Alto Juruá, Acre, no período de 1890 a 1945. A pesquisa utilizou fontes orais, processos judiciais, relatos de viajantes e outros documentos para mostrar a existência de mulheres na região e sua importância no processo de constituição dos seringueiros como uma população tradicional. Abstract: In this article I tell in first person the research path of the book Mulheres da Floresta: uma história (São Paulo: Hucitec, 1999) about women‟s history in the region of Alto Juruá, Acre, Brazil, between 1890 and 1945. The research used oral sources, judicial processes, traveler‟s reports and other documents to show the existence of women in the region and their importance in the process of constitution of “seringueiros”(rubber tappers) as a traditional population.
