Today’s increasingly complex world structure increases the encountered risks and their impact and it hampers the management of institutions. This causes traditional management approaches became insuicient and leads new management approaches to emerge. Risk management emerges as a management technique to be applied by organizations, which operate in changing environmental and technological conditions, and the importance of risk management is increasing with each passing day. Unmanaged risks could cause severe events and losses, which could afect people, customers and employees of aviation companies. Risk management, ofers a systematic approach to take the necessary preventive measures to avoid aviation incidents and accidents before they occur. In this study, previous researches on risk and risk management in aviation are examined in terms of national and international aviation standards and assessment is made on the role of Risk Management in Turkish Civil Aviation System.
