The study was conducted in the Trans Yamuna area of Allahabad. The interview schedule was used for data collection and the sample size of the study was 150 (75 working women and 75 non –working women) the analysis of the data was done by using frequencies, percentage and t test. It was concluded that majority of the working women belonged to school and teaching staff category. A large percentage of the working and non working women were taking joint decisions in children matters, personal matters and household matters but in aspects like religious practices, expenditure aspect, purchasing of items and hygiene practices working women were taking independent decisions. Significant difference was found in independent decision of working and non working women (2.142 at 5% level of significance) whereas non - significant difference were found between working and non working women in joint decisions making (5% level of significance) Keywords: Working and Non- working women, children matters, Personal matters, household matters. Introduction Women played important role in joint decision making processes in land management through in some areas male members were the dominant decision makers, still a major percentage of women folk were consulted in many areas before taking final decisions. Goswami et al. (2004). In India total population is 1,221.8 millions. Among the 10 largest countries of the world, India is the second most populous country. In this man is 50 percent, working women are 35 percent and non- working women are 15 percent. Working women are contributing to the family income and help to increase economic status of family. In India about one in three of all adult women aged 15-49 years in the work force and engaged in economic activities. No doubt she is contributing to the family income but at the same time she has to carry on extra burden of home making and outside work.
