Giosuè Loj 2 , 3 Abstract: The Ersat (Regional Agency of Development and Technical Assistance in agriculture) has participated, with the collaboration of the SAR (Sardinia Agrometeorological Regional Service) , to the writing of the Program for to combat the desertification of the Sardinia Region. The contribution has been developed in the analysis of main desertification processes and drought tied to the soil and meteorological conditions of the Sardinia with the elaboration of a first version of the regional plan of vulnerable areas in 1:250.000 scale map. Has been moreover proposed numerous actions for the reduction of the risk within the soil defense and the reduction of water consumptions in agriculture. The National Committee to combat the desertification and drought(DCPM 26.9.97 GU n.43 of 21.2.98) has approved of 22\07\99 the: Lines Guide for policies and national measures to combat the desertification (PAN), predisposed on the base of addresses of the deliberation of CIPE n. 154 of the 22 Decembers 1998, that define actions necessary to combat the desertification and the degradation of the territory in Italy in the respect of underwritten engagements within the Convention of United Nations to combat the desertification and drought ( 14/10/94 Paris, ratified with L.n.170 of 4/06/97). The Region of the Sardinia, with deliberation n.14\2 of 23.03.2000 of the Regional Committee, for the performance of indications formulated from the CIPE deliberation of 21dicembre 99, has activated a technical secretariat, with the involvement of Services of the Presidency and Councillorships and ERSAT, competent in matter, in order to carry out an effective to combat the desertification and drought.
