It includes the origin and development of plants, their external and internal structures and the relation of the members of the plant body with one another. The ancient Indian scientists studied plant life particularly from Morphological aspect. This branch of Botany is divided into external morphology and internal morphology or histology. Both these were known to ancient Indians. VkÒƗyurveda of ParƗĞara has given detailed information on plant morphology. VkƗngasūtrƯyƗdhyƗya, the chapter of BƯjotpatti KƗṇḍa of ParƗĞara’s VkƗyurveda deals with various parts of plants. They are Patra (Leaf), Pupa (Flower), Phala (Fruit), Mūla (Root), Tvak (Bark), KƗṇḍa (Stem), SƗra (Hear-twood), Svarasa (Sap), NiryƗsa (Exudation), Sneha (Oleaginous matter), Kaṇaka (Spine or Prickle), BƯja (Seed), and Praroh (Seedling). Detailed description in this regard has been discussed in this research paper. KEYWORDS- Morphology, Leaf, Flower, Fruit, Root, Bark, Stem, Seed, Seedling INTRODUCTION- Plant Morphology is a branch under which one studies the form of plants which involves a study of their life history. It is an interesting branch of study in so far as we begin our search at the embryonic stage and end at the stage of decay. It includes the origin and development of plants, their external and internal structures and the relation of the members of the plant body with one another. The ancient Indian scientists studied plant life particularly from Morphological aspect. MATERIALS AND METHODS- Various Sanskrit texts describing the morphological aspects of plants were taken into account while shaping the article. Special focus was given on VkƗyurvedic texts. In this regard, various libraries were consulted including Central Library, Ranchi University, Ranchi and Kamil
