1 FACING CRISIS WITH RELIABILITY RISK MANAGEMENT: LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE STORY OF YUSUF AS. Ai Nur Bayinah 1 Abstract The global economic crisis that occurred in 2008 are still scars. In recent years, millions people have lost most of their wealth, even many countries have not been able to recover from the ground up. The economists, intellectuals, and policy experts is currently struggling to understand the crisis that hit the United States this early. Some, such as Robert W. Kolb provides an overview that crisis does not have a single cause, and which occurred because of poor risk management. While the long history of risk management can actually be read as a struggle to quantify this critical endeavor, a story that Peter Bernstein regarded as, Against the Gods. Kolb also said that the crisis occurred because of excessive executive compensation and weak governance. In response, this paper tries to explore Islamic perspective to facing crisis by reviewing the risk management strategy, based on textual models drawn from the story of Prophet Yusuf, peace be upon to him, stated in Surah Yusuf. Using literature-based studies, this study is expected to be a guide in the form of crisis intervention models and risk management, especially for public institutions that try to operate by Sharia law.
