Abstract
The study on young generation's housing affordability has become pervasive nowadays since they are receiving
devastating consequences of affordability issues, especially in the well-being aspect. In a broad-spectrum, the
housing affordability's issue is interrelated to the young professional's well-being. However, this particular study
deliberated on young professional's housing preference in affordability context. Thus, this study taking into account
some attributes to represent the housing preference criteria. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to identify
housing preferences for a specific group of young professional in Kuala Lumpur. The young professional group
can be distinguished from other young groups, by the different terminologies used for depicting the young people,
such as Gen Y, Young Working Household and others. Young professional has different characteristics which make
them unique compared to other groups, and this also associates decision on housing choice. A descriptive analysis
has been applied with 50 respondents. The study found that security criteria as a priority in housing preferences
and followed by having Wi-Fi.

1. INTRODUCTION
A house is beyond than shelter and it has vigorous role
plays in the design of psychological significance and
economic well-being and individual wealth

. Equally
important, a house is expected to be seen as creating well-
being which it reflected the quality of life and for this
reason a house evolved from a shelter to a preference.
Young generation’s housing affordability became
precarious circumstances, and this is equivalent to the
Youth Access

views that young people struggle over
housing affordability issues, as they are more likely triple
to experiences rented housing and homeless issue
compared to other groups. This study focus on young
professional’s affordability and preferences and this makes
the study unique since focused on a specific group in urban
areas. In dealing with housing preferences, young
professional also experience the housing affordability
limitation. Generally, as the professional group, they
expected to earn a decent salary as they are graduated from
university and these views also often inspire Millennials
who are struggling in tertiary education to have a
successful academic result and they believe that they
deserve to have a bright future which is included to have a
good quality of life such as possess a better home for a
quality living environment.
2. LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Young Professional
Young professional referred as graduates who have a
