SAFE WORK PROCEDURE FOR MANUAL HANDLING OF MATERIALS/ MACHINERY 1) Project Manager shall make prior submissions of Risk Assessment (RA) and Safe Work Procedure (SWP) to Safety Department before commence of work at the workplace. 2) Project Manager shall ensure that RA and SWP briefings are conducted by respective supervisors and reviewed periodically when necessary. Manual Handling Operation: Site and Safety Supervisor to ensure prior to the manual handling, safety briefings made up of hazards involved and risk assessment contents must be disseminated to all persons involved. Supervisor to ensure, proper PPEs are issued to site personnel such as safety helmet, safety shoes, hand gloves, long sleeves if necessary eye goggles & ear- plug. Supervisor to ensure that planning must be made for the operation of any manual lifting, i.e. weight of the loadings, its access and the entire safe procedure. Site and Safety Supervisor to ensure that the access is free from obstruction before shifting of materials (pipes) and machinery (pumps). Supervisor to ensure, good communication to be maintained with co-worker when manual lifting of materials and machinery. Supervisor to brief to all site personnel for pinch point hazards of involving manual lifting operation. Supervisor to ensure the floor is even level (no slippery) while manual lifting operation.
