The main intention of this work is to conceal the non bio degradable materials like waste plastics and waste tyre rubber in concrete which cause harm to environment, thus creating an eco friendly concrete. For this purpose cubes, cylinders and beams were cast with varying percentages of plastic granules(0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%) and waste tyre rubber chips (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%)by volume of fine aggregate and by weight of coarse aggregates, compression test, split tensile test and Flexural tests were performed on the test specimens and it was found that the strengths gradually reduced upon increase of the percentages of waste plastic granules and waste tyre rubber and upto 20 percentage replacement can give a desirable strength which is not less than characteristic strength of concrete. Keywords: Eco Friendly concrete, Plastic granules, waste tyre rubber chips, compression test, split tensile test, flexural test. I. INTRODUCTION Concrete is a versatile and durable material in construction industry. Over the years it gained respect in terms of its performance and versatility. Whereas on the other hand due to rapid growth and demand the utilization of plastics and rubber (vehicle tyres) has increased rapidly which had created a heap of un usable, non bio degradable and waste material behind which is disposed by burning, land filling, disposing in rivers, oceans which contaminates the environment and is proved to be harmful to both mankind and environment, the present work is an experiment to develop an eco friendly concrete by concealing the harmful materials like waste tyre rubber and plastics in concrete thus reducing a little burden on environment. Moayyad, ZeljkoTorbica of West Virginia University proved that there is a great potential for the used rubber tires to be used effectively in concrete. Even though, the addition of rubber aggregates decreases the concrete compressive and tensile strength, there are several properties that can be improved by adding rubber aggregate to the concrete. He also showed that the thermal conductivity can be improved by the increase amount of recycled aggregates used in the mix by reducing the heat transfer and increasing the thermal resistance of concrete. T.R. Naik studied the Reuse of post-consumer wastes and industrial byproducts in concrete and found that it is necessary to produce even “greener” concrete by replacing the conventional material with waste material like non biodegradable plastics. II. OBJECTIVE The main objective of this experimental work is to To Develop Eco Friendly Concrete by concealing non biodegradable wastes like Waste plastics and Waste tyre rubber in concrete.
