Through the home videos, cultural, social, economic and political issues are been discussed about to the enlightenment and education of the audience. This is the social responsibility role of the mass media to the society as Harold Laswall in Sambe (2005) once stated that the function of mass media to the society is the preservation of cultural heritage from one generation to another. The Nigeria movie industry have for over three decade been involving on providing means of entertainment to its specific target audience. Base on this role, Nwosu, Onwukwe and okugo (2013) stated that the first home movie to hit the film industry in Nigeria and which was nationally accepted was titled: “Living in Bondage”. While in his own view, Okoli (2001) looking at home video as an instrument of social control states that states that „home movies in Nigeria have the basic roles of cultural marketing, entertainment and serve as agent or means of social control” by so doing, they transmits some social values to the society. These values can be in form of moral and ethical ground. That is, the accepted and rejected norms in the society. The home movies usually portray the accepted beliefs, customs, norms and values of society like respect for one another, self discipline, be our brothers keeper, respect to constituted authority and transfers of good moral and ethical values to other members of the society. The home video discourages anti-social action-pollution, bribery and corruption among others.
