Long Abstract Collaborative public art processes have recently led to interesting experiences and results in some European cities. In Portugal, and as far as we know, unique case-study of collaborative public art was developed, having the Barcelona experiences as reference, combined with the use of methodologies for the promotion of public participation in regional planning. This case-study consists in the conception of a three piece monument built through a public art collaborative process in Almada, Portugal, between 2011 and 2013. This collaborative process involved several agents the ŵuŶiĐipalitLJ, the edžperts teaŵ including sculptors and anthropologists, local associations and inhabitants and was based on a sequential and progressive working methodology, through a dynamic and iterative process in which territory and community were the basic stones for the ŵoŶuŵeŶts ĐoŶĐeptioŶ. CurreŶtlLJ, this edžperieŶĐe is aďout to be evaluated and this presentation intends to proceed with some preliminary reflections. 1 e-GEO Centro de Estudos de Geografia e Planeamento Regional, Universidade Nova de Lisboa/ CEACT/UAL Centro de Estudos de Arquitectura, Cidade e Território da Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, framalhete@netcabo.pt. 2 DINÂMIA’CET _ Centro de Estudos sobre a Mudança Socioeconómica e o Território, Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE/IUL), magoo@iscte.pt. 3 CIEBA Centro de Estudos em Belas Artes, Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa / CR-Polis, Universitat de Barcelona, gerbertverheij@vfemail.net. 4 CIEBA Centro de Estudos em Belas Artes, Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa, ateliersergiovicente@gmail.com.
