Animal Remains from the Mature Harappan Contexts at Farmana 101 Animal Remains from the Mature Harappan Contexts at Farmana, Rohtak District, Haryana, India The site of Farmana (Lat. 29° 0222N; Long. 76° 1821E) was irst discovered by Suraj Bhan in 1974. This ancient site falls within the jurisdiction of three separate villages (Farmana, Seman and Bhaini Chandrapal) which in turn all come under the Mehem Block of Rohtak District. However, large portions of the site fall within the jurisdiction of Farmana village and hence, considered a part of that village. Moreover, it is the second largest Harappan site in Haryana, with an approximate area of 18 ha and an average deposit of 2.5-3.5 m thickness. The site (Fig. 1) has yielded abundant cultural material, assigned to the Harappan period, during both explorations and excavations - conducted between 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 jointly by the Deccan College, Pune, Research Institute for Humanity and Nature, Kyoto, and Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak (Shinde et al . 2008; Shinde et al. 2011).
