Abstract
The emergence of temporary and democratic work forms characterizes work today and organizations to a great extent rely

and stress. Motivation constitutes a central element when going through the process of human learning. If the organization
does not possess the ability to motivate its employees, the knowledge within the organization is not practically used to a
maximum. Therefore, it becomes the aim of every successful learning organization to find the factors that enable it to
motivate its employees to continuous learning and to take advantage of this knowledge to ensure its living. Many
motivational theories have been constructed to find these motivational factors. The purpose of this paper was to discuss
motivation in project team and explore the measurement of motivation in project management. Projects are motivating due
to clear goals, but they are also often time pressured. Incidents like, for example, loss of resources, changing preferences or
priorities, or project closure might provoke changes to the set goals, to which individuals have committed. This could
obstruct effective goal fulfilment as well as create stress among the people involved. How do project managers and project
team members perceive incidents that the typical project encounters? How do they cope with uncertainties the incidents
bring about? The finding suggests that incidents cause changes over the project l ifecycle, both of goals and of iŶdiǀiduals
perceptions of tasks, conditions, and the situation. Different coping strategies are used to reduce uncertainty and stress.

What do people want from their jobs?
Do they want just a higher salary? Or do they want security, good relationships with co-workers, opportunities
for growth and advancement - or something else altogether?
