Abstract
Modern information and communication technologies (ICT) have penetrated all spheres of human activities including
education. Moreover, at present ICT have undoubtedly become an indispensable part of everyday learning. Much has been
also written about their use in a learning process (see [1], [2], [3] or [4]). But do they really have a positive impact on
learning, in this case on the learning of foreign languages? Can the learning of foreign languages be enhanced with the help
of modern information and communication technologies? If yes, in what ways? What is the golden mean of using them in
learning in order not to become a passive learner only? What is the teacher’s aŶd studeŶt’s role in such a process? What
makes students’ learŶiŶg more effective and challenging? These are the key issues which are going to be discussed in the
article.
