SH1738 01 Handout 1 *Property of STI Page 1 of 5 Senior High School (SHS) Work Immersion Guidelines The following guidelines aim to provide a reference on the proper implementation of the Work Immersion course of Senior High School (SHS) students starting SY 2017-2018. Work immersion shall not be considered as employment arrangement but only to serve the K-12 Program purpose of exposing the students to actual workplace setting and augment the competencies provided by the school. The procedures below apply to the step-by-step process to be followed before, during, and after their training. The total number of hours for the Work Immersion will be 80 hours. Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)—is a legal document specifically outlining the role and responsibilities of all concerned parties, training plan, learning objectives, and methods of evaluation between STI and the HTE. The signatories of the MOA must be the School Administrator (SA)/Deputy School Administrator (DSA, for HQ-owned schools) or the President/SA (for franchise schools) and a duly authorized officer of the company. Four (4) copies must be secured: one (1) copy each for the HTE, Work Immersion Coordinator (Assistant Principal), student-trainee, and the Department of Education Regional Office. Work Immersion Coordinator —is a Senior High School teacher assigned by the Assistant Principal of the school who serves as the main focal person of industries in terms of establishing and maintaining partnership which will provide Work Immersion placement opportunities in varied HTEs. S/He oversees all aspects of the Work Immersion course including the program implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of student-trainees. S/He also conducts on-site visits to the Host Training Establishment and meet on-site supervisor, prior to the start or towards the end of the training. He/ She also ensures to have direct contact with the school’s Alumni and Placement Officer (APO).
