Abstract Emotions play crucial role in the success and happiness of any human being. Concept of Emotional Intelligence grabs an important place in any behaviour modification trainings given to the employees of any company. Training college students on Emotional Intelligence will certainly empower them to successfully accomplish the tasks, establish effective relationship, excel in leadership and handle problems in different dimensions. Class Quality Circle is a concept derived from industrial sector to educational sector. This paper describes the emotional intelligence of leaders of Class Quality Circles, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur, Vellore Dist., TN and it has been tested for its association with their course of education, previous leadership experience. It was found that the majority of the students lack in Emotional Intelligence, there are significant differences found in the Emotional Intelligence by the course of education, gender, academic achievement and socio-economic status. This paper will be an eye opener for the educational institutions, class quality circle leaders, parents and teachers to create sufficient space and exposure for the students to be Emotionally Intelligent. Introduction The word intelligence is as old as human existence and symbiotically associated with thinking skills that distinguish an individual from another and most importantly a predictor of life adjustment in the society.
