In fact, in Surakarta are still many users who choose private transportation and other public transportation for the same purpose. The purpose of modeling is to know the potential user based on four attributes, cost, travel time, comfort and safety. Modeling based on the response of passengers with stated preference method. The model used binomial logit model and transformed into a multiple linear regression. The model is ௌ = ଵ ଵ+ ሺ− భ,9రర − బ,బబభ ሺC−Cౘሻ − బ,బఱఱ ሺT−Tౘሻ + బ,యబఱሺN−Nౘሻ + బ,మయల ሺA−Aౘሻሻ and PATMO = 1 - PBST. PBST is the choice probability of BST, PATMO is the choice probability of ATMO. C is a variable of cost, T is the time, N is the comfort, and A is the safety, b for BST and a for ATMO. Based on the model, the comfort variable is the biggest aspect in modal choice of public transportation. Key Words: Batik Solo Trans (BST), mode choice model, stated preference INTRODUCTION Traffic congestion is a problem that occurs because of the unsuficient of transportation facilities and infrastructure, as well as the lack of good transportation system. So, the big cities that have high levels of congestion make every effort to resolve the issue. One of the government policy is the provision of mass transportation. In Surakarta, mass transportation policy has been implemented by introducing bus rapid transit could as the Batik Solo Trans (BST). The existence of Batik Solo Trans (BST) in Surakarta has not be able to show success as public transport priority because BST has some drawback and competitiveness among others public transports. Beside that, private vehicles especially motorcycle has tends to increase. Therefore, we need an analysis of mode choice model. The aims of the research to analyze the potential election of public transport buses by comparing BST and ATMO. METHODOLOGY Research carried out by direct interviews with 105 respondents in the BST and 105 respondents in the ATMO. Samples taken by passangers who has a good chance for the bus ride both BST and ATMO along the route to the destination of Kartosura Palur and Palur Kartosura.
