APERTURISMO Y MODERNIDAD EN EL MUSICAL CINEMATOGRÁFICO ESPAÑOL DE LOS AÑOS 60. Teresa FRAILE PRIETO Resumen Desde los años sesenta, España experimentó una ola de aperturismo y modernización en el contexto de la dictadura franquista de la que las músicas populares urbanas suponen un magnífico testimonio. A lo largo de las décadas de los sesenta y setenta, la canción popular y la imagen de las bandas de pop fueron un síntoma de innovación ligado a los discursos sociales emergentes. Los géneros musicales importados del extranjero penetraron en el panorama español por distintas vías, trayendo consigo un imaginario cargado de valores con los que rápidamente se identificó la juventud nacional. El cine, por su parte, supo recoger este testigo integrando los nuevos estilos de las músicas populares, así como a sus protagonistas, y proyectando una imagen renovada de España. Desde las películas para fans que promocionaban tanto a las nuevas estrellas de la canción como los lugares de mayor reclamo turístico, hasta aquellas construidas en torno a las actuaciones de los conjuntos beat del momento, el gran número de producciones musicales realizadas durante este periodo dio lugar a una de las épocas doradas del cine musical español. A través de estas películas musicales pueden rastrearse las tensiones entre la tradición y la modernidad, entre la aceptación de las influencias extranjeras y la voluntad de definición nacional, y la dialéctica establecida entre las músicas heredadas del pasado español y las tendencias estilísticas traídas del exterior. Palabras clave: cine musical, música pop, España, modernidad. OPENNESS AND MODERNITY IN THE SPANISH MUSICAL OF THE 60S. Abstract Since the 60s, a wave of openness and modernization took place in Spain within the context of Franco dictatorship. Popular music shows a wonderful testimony of these events. Throughout the decades of the 60s and 70s, popular song and the image of pop bands were a symptom of innovation linked to the emerging social discourse. Musical genres imported from abroad arrived to the Spanish scene in various ways, bringing an image and values that quickly were identified with the Spanish youth. Cinema was able to collect this witness integrating both the new styles of popular music as its main characters, and projecting a refreshed image of Spain. During this period, many films were made for fans of the new song stars, which served to promote the places of tourist attraction. Other films were built around the performances of beat bands. Therefore the large number of musical productions made during this period leads to one of the golden ages of Spanish musical cinema. Through these musical films we would trace the tensions between the adequacy of foreign influences and the will of national definition, between tradition and modernity, as well as the dialectics between inherited Spanish music and the new trends coming from abroad.
