ÇANAKKALE ARAŞTIRMALARI TÜRK YILLIĞI 93 Yıl 13 Güz 2015 Sayı 19 ss. 93-122 Çanakkale’deki Osmanlı Kaleleri Yusuf ACIOĞLU* Özet Çanakkale’de, Osmanlı döneminde Yıldırım Bayezıd’dan itibaren bölgeyi, özellikle boğazı korumak ve İstanbul’a Akdeniz’den gelecek saldırılara engel olmak amacıyla kaleler yapılmıştır. Yıldırım Bayezıd’dan sonra kale inşasına XIX. yüzyılın ilk yarısına kadar devam edilmiştir. Mevcut bazı kaleler onarılmış ve bunlara yenileri eklenmiştir. Kaleler, dönemin koşullarına ve teknolojik gelişmelere uygun bir biçimde şekillenmiştir. Çanakkale’de, Osmanlı döneminde yapılan ve onarılarak büyük ölçüde yenilenen toplam on üç kalenin varlığı tespit edilebilmiştir. Bunlardan biri, tamamen yok olmuştur. Geriye kalan on iki kale ise günümüze mevcut halleri ile ulaşabilmiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Çanakkale, Osmanlı, Kale Ottoman Forts in Çanakkale Abstract The Ottomans started to build forts in the city of Çanakkale during the reign of Bayezıd I for protecting the Dardanelles and preventing attacks on Istanbul that would come from the Mediterranean. After the reign of Bayezıd I, the Ottomans continued to build forts until the first half of the Nineteenth century. Some of the old forts were renovated and new ones were built. The forts were shaped in parallel to the conditions and technological developments of the period. The records show that there were thirteen forts in Çanakkale which were built, renovated and mainly restored by the Ottoman Empire. One of them has been entirely destroyed, while the remaining twelve forts have managed to survive until today. Keywords: Çanakkale, Ottoman, Fort * Yrd. Doç.
