The Systematization of Experiences methodology was used (Jara, 2006) in the following times: starting point; initial questions; recovery of the lived process/background relection and arrival points. The activities developed for two years with approximately 300 children, between 05 and 06 years old, show that it is possible to build alternatives in the school institution itself, with enormous potential in terms of its ability to give meaning to children’s experiences, developing creativity, valuing diversity and, above all, awakening their corporeal-historical-cultural consciousness. It must be recognized and promoted educational initiatives that dialogue with emancipatory processes when it comes to studies on the racial issue. Furthermore, the school community needs to review racist thoughts that carry myths of white superiority. Studies that lead to the knowledge and power decolonization in Brazil and in Latin America should be part of teacher education. Its incorporation into curricula and pedagogical processes in general has particular importance for the construction of a more human, equitable and receptive society in face of diversity. Keywords Body, childhood, ethnic-racial relations, child education, cultural diversity, black identity.
