Ese proceso era la culminación de una política racista antisemita que había recorrido las fases previas del mero prejuicio infor- mal, la discriminación oficial y la segregación física institucional antes de desem- bocar en el exterminio biológico de intención totalizadora. El artículo repasa el perfil de ese proceso de radicalización acumulativa y aborda su significado histórico transcendental sobre la base de la literatura más solvente y actualiza- da. De este modo, trata de subrayar la singularidad del fenómeno y los motivos de su conversión en prototípico parámetro máximo de la violencia genocida, a pesar de los casos anteriores o posteriores registrados en la historia. ABSTRACT In the context of the Second World War, the German nazi dictatorship planned and implemented the genocide of the Jewish population in occupied Europe. That process was the final climax of a racial antisemitic policy which had passed through the previous phases of informal prejudice, official discrimination and physical segregation prior to become a total design of biological extermination. The article reviews the profile of such a process of radicalization of policies and measures and its transcendent historical significance on the basis of the most accredited and recent literature. The final aim is to remark the singularity of the event and the reasons for its convertion into a supreme parameter of genocidal violence, in spite of the previous or posterior cases registered in history.
