ABSTRACT
The present study is aimed to determine the efficacy of natrum muriaticum on ovary of female ornamental
fishes like Goldfish, Rosy barb, White Molly and Guppy. The histological sections of ovaries show large number
of oocytes in various stages of development. Based on changes in ovary, four oocyte stages have been recorded
viz. primary oocyte stage, cortical alveolus stage, vitellogenic stage and mature oocyte stage. Depending upon
the stages of oocytes in experimental animals it shows that natrum muriaticum has a greater influence in
reproductive cycle. The study therefore suggested that natrum muriaticum has a significant effect on the
ovaries and advances the breeding activity faster than the control fishes.

I. INTRODUCTION
Fishes one of the most beautiful and fascinating living
organism to watch, a plentiful source of protein-rich
food, a means of control for mosquito-borne diseases
and a potential tool in research (Harishanker et al.,
1997).Studies on reproductive cycle of fishes are of
great importance in maintenance of healthy fish
population in any water system. Moreover, it has been
well established that in most of teleosts the ovaries
undergo fairly regular changes. But the variation was
observed in different fish species under different
environmental conditions (Gadekar, 2014). To get a
good quality seed, it is desirable to have in-depth
knowledge on the reproductive biology of fish, so that
the exact timing of spawning can be determined.
Availability of such information, to a great extent can
help a fish farmer to conduct a successful venture
induced breeding (Agarwal et al., 2001 and Gogoi et
al., 2013). The present study is done to find efficacy of
natrum muriaticum on induced breeding of the
commercially important fishes like Goldfish, Rosy
barb, White Molly and Guppy. Histological
observation of the ovaries was attempted by using
homeopathy preparation natrum muriaticum of 30c
potency and its effects on reproduction.
II. MATERIALS AND METHODS
The selected mature female fishes like goldfish, rosy
barb, white molly and guppy were treated with
natrum muriaticum 30 c potency in water medium.
The natrum muriaticum solution of dilution namely
30 centesimal (30C) was brought from Trichy Homeo
Medicals, Trichy. The above mentioned dilution was
preferred as it is known as the typical potency with
peculiar potenzing effect (Visakan, 2000). From
natrum muriaticum 30 centesimal potency, 0.025%
