Introduction
As the name implies, Islamic psychology is based primarily on Islamic
theology and worldview. herefore, this chapter discusses Islamic per-
spectives of psychology based on the Qur’an and Hadith traditions of
Prophet Muhammad. he early Muslim scholars also wrote extensively
about human nature and some of their works are also introduced in
this chapter. he written accounts on the description of human nature
by early Muslim scholars can be found as early as 800 AD and then
onwards until year 1100. he key element in Islamic psychology was its
emphasis on indings ways to cure and heal rather than just theorize and
