ISBN: 978-602-96140-6-0 Abstract In the midst of controversies, degree of multi-skilling—as a part of newsroom convergence (Aviles & Carvajal, 2008), is happening in our journalism practice nowdays. Previous studies (see (Octavianto, Mardjianto, Prestianta, and Harry, 2015; Tapsell, 2014) shows that there are a lot of challenges arising from this convergence process. One example would be cultural challenge that happened in traditional media that already has a long journalism history. This study would like to dig deeper into the multi- skiliing dimention, especially from a relatively new media company in Indonesia, CNN Indonesia. This study explored how Indonesia journalists can comprehend and applied degree of multi-skilling in their daily work. Also, this study hope to give insight into the challenges and opportunities that arise from multi-skilling demand. Therefore, we use case study by Stake (2005) as an approach. The result suggests that in the relatively news media company, the demand of multi-skilling is more acceptable for the journalist. But they still face some challenges such as support from media institution that are perceived as low and also infrastructure problem like internet connectivity in Indonesia. This make the multi-skilling demand, although relatively more accepatable, still cannot be applied one hundred percent. Keywords: newsroom, convergence, new media, multi-skilling, CNN Indonesia
