The relationship of local government employees to scientific knowledge about climate changes and climate adaptation Robert Næss, Jøran Solli and Knut H. Sørensen This paper analyzes how local government employees domesticate climate science for climate adaption purposes. We find that employees in Norwegian municipalities perceive the consequences of climate change as a serious challenge and they also place trust in the main results of climate science. However, they consider climate science knowledge to be too difficult to use. The paper discusses how the employees perceive the challenges of appropriating climate science knowledge and putting it to use. We find that technologies of bureaucracy, texts like new and updated standards and regulations, are in demand as they are considered vital in enabling practical knowledge as well as a political authorization of its credibility.
