Motivation Letter Name: waleed saeed alshakliah I was very glad when I saw this parcular opportunity to apply for a Master program in civil Engineering, and with this leer I would like to express my strong movaon for this master course. I strongly believe that both my educaonal background and my deep concern in this field of study make me a very good candidate for the program. I have grown up in Yemen, a third world country, where Yemeni people have been facing many obstacles that make them suffer, and hamper the development of our society as whole. Infrastructure services such as transportaon, sewage network and drainage networks have been destroyed by the war , which are the most important thing for a society to develop are not available, many years went fast but nothing has changed, and our people sll in need for it. Even though Yemen is a petroleum country and has many gas and oil wells, Yemeni people are sll suffering the lake of this services, cies are drowning due to rain because off destroying drainage networks services, traffics are all around because off destroying roads, bridges …etc. For these reasons and for the beerment of my country I made up my mind and decided that no maer what it takes I should do something to end my country transportaon and drainage networks services problems. Is not that what exactly a civil engineer is supposed to do? I have graduated with a bachelor degree in civil engineering three years ago at Aden University, Yemen. I have launched my work journey as a supervisor engineer in Arkal contracng for engineering . Finally, I was working as a design engineer at Inmaa real estate corporaon where I was so closed to real projects and this closed enables me to broaden my knowledge of these projects, what make them more efficiency, and how to keep the projects’ quality at high level. Also, when the war started, I worked as a volunteer in some local non- profit organizaons to help refugees in Ataq city. Furthermore, since my graduaon, I have read about design of roads and drainage networks . I believe that my background and my knowledge are the main reasons that drive me to apply for this program, I have acquired sound knowledge of leading edge engineering principles, tools, pracces with emphasis on designing, building and tesng systems, thus this knowledge pushes me forward to learn more and to take a new horizon to gain more experience. Studying civil Engineering in your country, which is the cradle of this science and the origin of construcon wonders, is a good opportunity for me to improve my knowledge both praccally and theorecally, which enable me to gain more experience in dealing with situaons, people, and systems, which will be of a great help to me for my future career. Studying at your mulcultural university enables me to improve my interpersonal talents. I would be learning in one of the best university. Besides, I will have the opportunity to develop myself in an internaonal environment giving me the privilege to meet new people with different points of view, which would be a very enriching experience to me. I am convinced that this master program would provide me with the necessary theorecal knowledge and praccal skills that I need for a successful civil engineer in the future. To obtain a degree from your university will be an honor, so if given a chance, I will do my best. I realize the highly compeve demands of the program, and I am highly movated by the compeve nature of the field I have chosen.
