19 OVELHAS NEGRAS? BREVE ESTUDO SOBRE O ANTICLERICALISMO NO BRASIL BLACK SHEEP? BRIEF STUDY ABOUT THE ANTICLERICALISM IN BRAZIL Diego Omar da Silveira * Resumo: Foi o anticlericalismo brasileiro o menos violento da América Latina ou essa permanece sendo uma falsa impressão derivada da ausência de estudos acerca das ideias e da ação política dos grupos hostis à religião no Brasil? O presente trabalho busca lançar algumas reflexões preliminares sobre esse tema, tão pouco abordado pelas ciências sociais no Brasil, ainda que de caráter fundamental para pensar os processos de secularização e laicização do Estado. Busco aqui traçar um panorama dos debates entre a Igreja e os anticlericais do início do século XIX até meados do século XX, tentando abarcar as principais ideias políticas que orientavam a ação e o engajamento dos anticlericais. Abstract: It was the brazilian anticlericalism, the less violent of the Latin America or it re- mains a false impression derived of the absence of studies about the ideas and the political ac- tion of the hostile groups to the religion in Brazil. The present study seeks to launch some pre- liminary reflections on this theme very little considered by the social science in Brazil, even with a fundamental character to think the processes of secularization and laicization of the State. I seek to map a panorama of the debates between the church and the anticlericals of the beginning of the 19th century until the middle of the 20th century, trying to embrace the main political ideas which guide the action and the engagement of the anticlericals.
