About seven decades of independence, with about three generation born and living in the post- independence period, there a number of trends - a quest has emerged to question concepts that make up the various aspects of the cultural idea of India, as much as about creating an exotica of the past to make it reemerge and be a part of the present identity, and there are also efforts to project experimentation to reinvent the past for the present in different ways. Yet another fascinating part of the cultural questioning in recent years is about vocabulary. Over the years over 70 Indian terms such as Guru, Gulab Jamun, and Yoga have been added to the Oxford Dictionary, the rationale of which is expressed Danica Salazar, OED World English Editor that these words specifically had no equivalents in English.
