Department of English Philology National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent djumabaevajamila@gmail.com Annotation This article is devoted to identification of the difference between graduonymy and gradation and other semantic relations as synonymy, antonymy, and a number of other semantic categories. In particular, meronymy and holonymy, plesionymy are not studied semantic categories in the Uzbek language. So, author tried to explain and consider these categories in comparison with graduonymy in Uzbek. В частности, рассматриваются ряд семантических категорий, которые не были объектом изучения в узбекском языке как мероимия, холонимия и плесионимия. Поэтому автор попыталась объяснить сущность этих категорий с помощью сравнения с градуонимией в узбекском языке. Graduonymy and gradation are different phenomena; there are cases when linguists replace the term gradation with intensification. Russian linguists S.M.Kolesnikova [1], S.A.Tihomirov [2], G.V.Kireeva [3], and S.S.Kadyseva [4] included a number of terms related to gradation, such as градуатор, градосема, and градационная шкала. In this article we have determined similar features of graduality with intensification as well as with stylistic device as gradation. It should be noted that there is no single solution for many issues related to this phenomenon.
