Segundo Berger, sua principal referência nesse âmbito é o sociólogo austríaco Alfred Schütz, fundador da sociologia fenomenoló- gica. E Schutz, por sua vez, se inspirou no método fenomenológico de Edmund Husserl. Assim, o objetivo dessa pesquisa é analisar as raízes fenomenológicas da sociologia da religião de Peter Berger, partindo da investigação do método fenomenológico de Husserl, em seguida, examinando as contribuições deste para a formação da sociologia fenomeno- lógica de Schutz e, por fm, como e em que medida essa produção teórica e metodológica chega a Berger e é utilizada para fundamentar sua sociologia da religião em fase inicial. Abstract There are aspects of Peter Berger’s sociological theory of religion that are little investigated, one of which is its phenomenological roots. According to Berger, his main reference in this feld is the Austrian sociologist Alfred Schütz, founder of phenomenological sociology. And Schütz, for his part, was inspired by the phenomenological method of Edmund Husserl. Thus, the aim of this research is to analyze the phenomenological roots of Peter Berger’s sociology of religion, starting from the investigation of the phenomenological method of Husserl, then examining its contributions to the formation of Schütz’s phenomenological sociology and, fnally, how e to what extent this theoretical and methodological production arrives to Berger and is used to substantiate the origins of his sociology of religion.
