Mustafa Shahin Sabir Civil Engineering Department College of Engineering - University of Sallahaddin - Erbil Abstract :- As the water is the life force, essential for every living creature on the earth, saving and protecting it are the basic necessities. This paper study the characteristics of sewage of Erbil city ,and also study methods of treatment by stabilization ponds and aerated ponds and comparing between them for reusing it for irrigation of total gross area about 2000 donum within the boundary of Erbil city and also to reduce pollution hazards. Introduction :- Kurdistan is one of the rich regions in water resources it's average income of water is more than 25 x 10 9 m 3 according to the following information shown in table (1) below (1) Table (1): Average annual discharges and total annual income of water to Kurdistan Region River Period Average annual discharge m 3 / sec Average total yearly income Greater Zab 1925 -1988 427 13.5 x 10 9 Laser Zab 1925-1988 222 7.1 x 10 9 Diyala 1928 -1988 187 5.9 x 10 9 Al- Adhaim 1933 -1988 23 0.7 x 10 9 Although the income is very huge compared with available cultivated area, but still the use the water for agricultural purposes is very little in addition to mentioned resources there are waste water from cities discharge to the valleys and depression land useless, besides that cause environmental pollution, such as the sewage from Erbil city.
