Los resultados hasta ahora publicados muestran ventajas para estos pacientes tales como desarrollo de capacidad para ubicar la fuente sonora y mejores niveles de discriminación de lenguaje en ambientes difíciles así como mejoría en la percepción musical. Reportamos el primer caso en nuestro servicio y en Latinoamérica de implante coclear bilateral simultáneo. Palabras clave: implante coclear bilateral. ABSTRACT In the United States and Europe, several Otology groups have done bilateral cochlear implants on the past few years. The outcome of the bilateral cochlear implants, published in the literature report, advantages in those patients who improved the ability to localize sound and to reach higher levels of language discrimination, also a better understanding of speech in a noisy environment and even better musical perception. We report the first case of bilateral cochlear simultaneous implant in our department and in Latin America.
