Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE INTRODUCTION Trauma is the personal experience of an event that involves threatened death, threat to one’s physical integrity or serious injury. As a result, most involves impotent, acute fear, or horror in adolescent. The Cebu Hope Center Inc. is an international organization that aids children, specifically girls, that have been abused and abandoned by or have lost their parents. Given the situation these children are in, they are most likely victims of trauma, and thus are characterized more as ‘patients’ rather than just orphans. This study is conducted to provide a healthier environment for the children and help them cope up and heal through the theory of Comfortability. Rationale of the Study This is a proposed Contemporary Interior renovation for the Cebu Hope Center Inc. It is a catholic child caring agency that offers shelter, food, medical care, education, and hope to the abandoned, orphaned, surrendered, or abused young girls. Upon visiting the institution, the researcher met the children, together with the two girls with disabilities, and the administration as well, the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Hearts. They administer the institution’s goal, which is to educate, and rehabilitate the children. The researcher feels that the interior needs improvement and updating. The institution was built in the year 2006. Consequently, the current finishes and furniture of the center are most likely to be worn off and dated. Their ceiling finish is mostly worn off 1
