Pondering over this problematc amidst the media boom in India, this chapters examines the journalistc practce of leading TV new anchors on Twiterr Two specifc aspects of their practce on Twiter are examined here: variatons in their messaging behaviour, and shifs in their opinions towards politcal actorsr We draw on a corpus of over 2000 tweets generated by three TV news anchors, having the top-three following on Twiter, over a period of 13 months leading to the natonal electons of May 2014r Natonal electons are the biggest and most expensive news spectacle in India, atractng intensive, if not obsessive, coverage by newspapers, television, online and recently social media; it thus ofers an excitng moment to examine journalistc practces, especially changes in their opinions towards key politcal and electoral actors, be it the incumbent and main oppositon party, leading Prime Ministerial candidatesr The corpus of Tweets is investgated into at two levelsr At the enumeratve level, we profle the volume and frequency of Tweets, the people and issues drawn atenton to, and the kinds of media content circulated by these leading journalistsr Such a comparatve mapping reveals the explicit messaging behaviour of TV journalists on the mobile “broadcastngg platorm of Twiterr At the interpretve level, we decipher the opinion of these journalists towards key politcal actors as refected in their Tweets, including shifs in their opinion with changes in the electoral and party-politcal dynamicsr This dual tracton ensures our study is as much about how established actors in the media engage with a novel platorm of news circulaton, as about how they respond to changing politcal currentsr
